My car stereo says "See ya" when I turn off my car. The microwave prompts me to "enjoy" when my meal has finished being re-heated. My laptop flashes a Blue Screen of DEATH right before it dies on me for the millionth time. Apple has ads showing my computer as a socially awkward guy in an ugly brown suit who talks to a cooler, better dressed Apple, who conveniently only remembers all his good points. When I search for a document on my laptop a annoyingly cute and eager cartoon dog appears to perform the search for me.
So doesn't it seem logical that I from time to time personify the things in my life? I didn't realize that these personifications coincided most with moments of frustration until class today. I can speak to this with experience considering that all my technology seems to be 'hating' me lately and 'choosing' inopportune moments to 'die' on me. My iPod 'refuses' to turn on. While I hate to be anything but positive about the car that's been with me since I turned 16, I have to say that it has been rather 'uncooperative' as of late. I have no such reservations complaining about my satanic laptop with a sardonic sense of humor and anarchic tendencies. (Also known as DELL)
Is the personification of technology a result of media and consumer friendly products like Ben (I think it was Ben....) suggested in class? Is it a symptom of spending too much time in the computer lab? A result of a generation who understands everything about computers save for how they work?
The world may never know... or care
Back to home in the library.

Personal accomplishment for the day : Taught an international student the meaning of "To moon." It's all about the cultural communication my friend.
